We're talking bigger than modern Total War games. Enabling that will allow you to control ridiculously large armies in real-time. One particularly notable new feature is the 'Experimental' army size option in combat. It's really the same game, except better in every way. It should be obvious by now that the core of Rome Remastered is pretty much the same as it was in 2004. Except that there are no crashes or bugs to be really concerned about! #2: It's Received a Bunch of Upgrades - But Not Too Many It's like you modded the original to just the right extent. Especially if you snag the 20 GB large Enhanced Graphics Pack. Here we've got a game that's mechanically almost exactly what you'd expect out of a 2004 release, but it looks way better than that. What is special about Rome Remastered is that it feels like a perfect throwback to the old days of strategy gaming. Whether that's a pro or a con for you, Rome Remastered doesn't necessarily feel like an entirely new game. In 2021, this means that it's still a bit behind the latest curve, but probably not as much as you might expect. In fact, it seemed like everyone had a copy floating about! Such popularity wasn't unwarranted, as the game was really ahead of its time back in the day. It would be a bit of an understatement to say that Total War: Rome was a mainstay for strategy gamers back in the day. But it sure is hard to get yourself to play stuff like the original System Shock when you could be having fun with something like Prey, instead. We know, we know - graphics aren't everything. Sadly, it's hard to recommend them when they look as bad as they do. There are a lot of games from that era that are still well worth the time it would take for you to replay them.
